Want more use out of those disposable masks? Here’s how!

So you bought a big box of disposable face masks, but you hate using things once and then just throwing them away. No worries! You don’t have to!

A few weeks ago when face masks were impossible to find I grabbed a box of 50 when I found one available. I keep them in the car for when we are out and about and I forgot my favorite washable Tory Burch cloth masks with metal nose piece or the fitted Vera Bradley cloth ones. I try to always bring a washable mask with me, but when I don’t have one, the disposable masks are great to have.

But then, what do I do with them once I’ve used one?! Obviously I’m not going to leave them on the ground outside the store like I see so many people do (seriously, PICK UP YOUR TRASH!). If I do need to throw one away, I keep some extra plastic bags – usually grocery bags – in my van to throw trash away and reuse plastic bags as well. I prefer re-usable grocery bags but a lot of stores aren’t allowing them right now, and since I’ve been doing grocery pick up I’ve ended up with a lot of plastic bags lately. However, if the mask isn’t ruined and still in good shape, but dirty, I don’t throw them away! I wash them!

Yes! That’s what I said! I wash my disposable face masks! It actually first happened on accident the other day. One of my masks got thrown in with the laundry. It went through the washer and dryer on a normal cycle and came out looking great and in great shape! Since they are not made of paper they hold up well in the wash. Obviously they will get worn down after a couple of washes, but you should be able to get a few washes out of them before that happens! This also means they aren’t going to break down in a landfill quickly, so reusing them is definitely the responsible thing to do if possible. And putting them in a load of clothes doesn’t take any additional resources, which is even better!

Tip of the Day – What can Kids get free at Starbucks?!

Full Disclosure: Links in this post may be affiliate links. I use these to help keep my blog up and going! Since I was out of town and didn’t get a Product Review Wednesday blog posted, I’m going to share this tip with you today! I thought more people knew about this, but recently found out a lot of my mom friends didn’t know… Did you know that you can get a free “Puppucino” from Starbucks for your kids or pets? Well, you can! It’s a little cup with a dollop of whipped cream and it makes them sooo happy!

For budgeting reasons I try not to go to Starbucks very often, but when I do go I don’t always want to buy something for the twins, too. Is that mean? Lol. The great thing is I don’t have to buy anything for them and we can still all leave with what we want! I just ask for a “Puppucino” for the boys and the barista puts some whipped cream in a little cup for FREE! What’s crazy is each time we go I ask them to make it SMALLER. They like to spoil my boys with more whipped cream than they really should be having and it cracks me up.

The other day my Mom called me and said she was having a fun day with the twins’ cousin K and wondered if we wanted to do something. I wasn’t sure we could tag along because I needed to go to the grocery store. Well, even though I usually use grocery pickup (Walmart’s is always free, or I use Dillons/Kroger’s if they have super good coupons specific to pickup) because it’s hard to go to the store with two 3 yr olds, my mom talked me into going to the store with them. So, instead of TWO 3 yr olds we went to the store with two 3 yr olds AND a 2 yr old 🤪.

We wanted to make it a fun adventure so we stopped by the in-store Starbucks first, of course. Each of the kiddos got their very own FREE Puppucino and Mom and I got our favorite drinks. Mom’s still learning her favorite drink but mine is a black & white mocha half caff… in case you needed to know 😉

The only negative to our awesome plan was that the kids were pretty much done with their whipped cream by the time we got our drinks… and thus hyped on sugar before we even started shopping.

Ya know, you live and you learn. To be honest, they actually did a great job. It went really well. I think K kept my boys distracted and they were good little shoppers. It just makes a better story if I act like a martyr pushing 3 cousins around. 😂

Oh, another random tip is that our Dillons (which is a Kroger brand) also give kids free fruit to snack on while you shop. So after the Puppucinos were gone K and the twins got to munch on orange slices.

It turned into a fun adventure for the kids and I got my grocery shopping done, so I call that a win! Does your local Coffee Shop or Grocery Store have a similar option for kiddos? Never hurts to ask if you don’t know!

Tip of the Day

I have tried on NO LESS than 50 coats since January 1. And yet, finding The Perfect Coat still alludes me. I may have found a tip, though, from my wonderful friends at church who keep trying to help me out!

All The North Face coats are 30% off online right now at Dick’s Sporting Goods. Which is a pretty good price. BUT, did you know they are 40% off IN STORE? And, they will order your size for you from online, and price match, and ship it to you directly! So, if you’re looking for a coat, go in to Dick’s and have them order you a coat for 40% off!

Just FYI, you do have to ask them to. The cashier rang up my coat at the 30% off online price. I simply asked, “Can you price match that to your in-store discount of 40% off?” and they said yes, and ordered my coat.

The only problem is they didn’t have any in my size in the coat I wanted in stock, so I had to order a different size. We’ll see if I can size down or not when it gets here. Free Returns if it doesn’t work!

They also had several racks of newly clearance TNF jackets, as well as other great brands!
