10+ Best Side Hustles For Moms
#1 – Affiliate Marketing
I thought we would kick off this list with this great side hustle idea since it is the one I currently do. Affiliate marketing is where you promote products to your audience, community, or network of people. Then, if anyone chooses to buy the product, you get a percentage of the sale.
What’s great is it doesn’t impact the buyer’s price at all (it’s FREE for the buyer!). It just means that the company selling the product gives away some of its profit. Essentially they’re using some of their marketing budget to pay commission to the affiliate.
An important thing to note about affiliate marketing is not every commission percentage will be the same. Every company uses different percentages, and sometimes it even depends on what the product is. Some retailers & platforms change their commission almost daily. It’s quite a bit to remember and keep up with!
I have been doing this side hustle for a long time, and while it is a lot of work, I love being able to share the best deals with the people in my community and make a little extra money for my family. Plus, I can do it on my own schedule, which is so worth it to be home with my kiddos as much as possible. It really has turned into a full-time gig for me, but definitely started as a side-hustle 4-5 years ago. When I first started this blog & my daily deals FB page I didn’t have the confidence to really go for it. It wasn’t until about a year later when I jumped in with both feet. Though, even then it was a very slow start for me. Many times I was ready to quit. I’m thankful that when things were the hardest God sent me some friends in the biz that have helped me get through. (See more of what I do from a friend’s perspective here).
If you’re just starting out, these are the affiliate companies I first started with. They’re reputable and have a great support system for beginners.

#2 – Dog Walker
When you think of side hustles, becoming a dog walker might not immediately pop into your mind. But dog walking is actually a really good side hustle!
You can set your own hours while also enjoying time outside. Plus, you can bring your kids with you. This gives you a chance to spend time with them, get everyone out of the house and away from technology, and include some physical activity in your day!
Plus, dog walking is in high demand because many people don’t have time to do it themselves. Both my sister-in-law and my aunt have worked on Rover for some time. They take wonderful care of the pups in their care, and I know it’s a great place to find similar caregivers.

#3 – Freelance Writer
Do you consider yourself to be a good writer? If yes, you might find that freelance writing is the perfect side hustle. You can utilize your existing skill set while also getting creative. How great is that?
The best part is, you can write any time. This makes this a good side hustle idea for the mom working full-time or at home with their kids during the day. So long as you meet your deadlines, you get to set your own hours. You can do this in your spare time, early in the morning, during nap time, or whatever works for you and your schedule!
You can write blog posts, white papers, resumes, social media captions, website copy, and more as a freelance writer.

#4 – Data Entry
While this isn’t one of the most creative side hustles, it is a great idea for a flexible side hustle. Because, much like being a freelance writer, you get to set your own hours as long as you meet the deadlines.
For data entry, you will need to have great attention to detail and be able to work quickly and accurately. If you meet those requirements, you can start a very successful side hustle doing this.
Here you can find a list of some great places to look for data entry jobs to get you started!

#5 – Social Media Management
In today’s modern world, social media is more important than ever. Businesses can use it to market their products, reach new customers, and increase their sales. But, many business owners don’t have time to manage their social media accounts. This is where you would come in!
As a social media manager, you create content, post to various social media platforms, and interact in the comments. And all you need to get started is an internet connection, a computer, and a basic understanding of how social media works.
This is a really lucrative side hustle idea since so many people could use this service. You could work with a fitness coach, a real estate agent, a lawyer, etc. This list could go on and on. You could work only with local companies or look for potential clients online. Either way, this is a great side hustle to start.
#6 – Virtual Assistant
If you’re looking for a little extra income to utilize your existing skills without going into an office, you should consider becoming a virtual assistant.
A virtual assistant is a person that provides support to clients remotely. This could mean helping with emails, managing calendars, setting up appointments, and other administrative tasks. This side hustle is perfect for someone who loves organization, time management, and customer service. Plus, you can do it from the comfort of your own home!
You can also be a specialized virtual assistant if you have a specific skill set. For example, you could be a bookkeeping VA or a Pinterest VA. This is about honing in on your special skill and leveraging it to create a profitable side hustle.
#7 – Online Tutor
While you need certain knowledge to tutor, it is a great side hustle idea for busy moms since you are doing it from the comfort of your own home. You can do this during the day, in the evenings, or even on the weekends.
There are companies that hire online tutors, or you can start your own business doing it. Either option will be a great way to earn extra money for your family. My aunt told me she started out tutoring by looking for positions on Care.com. You could also create a class to teach on Outschool, or teach English online to kids in other countries through VIPKid or something similar.

#8 – Graphic Designer
Graphic design can be a high-paying side hustle, especially if you work with the right clients. So, if this is a skill you have or are willing to learn, it can be a great side hustle to earn a little extra cash.
The great thing is there are a lot of people and businesses that need help from graphic designers. You have your online businesses, like coaches, YouTubers, etc., that need help with their graphics. But even local companies might be looking for a graphic designer.
For example, a personal trainer might want you to design a guide and some social media content for them. Or a restaurant might need you to create its menu.
The possibilities for graphic design are endless, and there is huge demand since many people struggle with design.
To learn some new graphic design skills, I recommend using Skillshare. This is a great, low-cost way to learn different techniques and skills you need to build a portfolio and land your first clients!
#9 – Deliver Groceries
Unfortunately, not everyone can make it to the grocery store every week. So, an easy way to earn some extra money is by doing grocery delivery. This side hustle is ideal for moms at home with their kids since you can take your kids with you on your deliveries.
You can work for companies like Instacart, Shipt, and other similar services. Or you could start your own grocery delivery service and help your local community.
#10 – Bookkeeping
And last but not least, you can do bookkeeping from home. This is another service that is in huge demand, especially with small businesses that can’t afford to have a full-time accountant on staff yet.
If you already have the needed skills, you can start looking for clients immediately. And if you don’t have the necessary skills yet, you can rest easy knowing there are many ways to learn. You can take some online classes or get certified by your local college.
What’s excellent about bookkeeping is you can do it on your own time, around your day job, while the kids or napping, or any time that fits your schedule. This really is a flexible side hustle idea, great for moms.
If you’re interested in getting started with bookkeeping, here is a great guide to help you get started.

Other Side Hustles For Moms
There are other online side hustles for moms that I didn’t mention above because while they are great, they can take a bit longer to get going. With that being said, once they take off, you can earn a lot of money. Some moms have even been able to quit their day job to work on these businesses full-time. Here are some ideas of what you could do.
