Product Review Wednesday! – Dry Shampoo

April 17, 2019      Chandler Lear      Leave a Comment

Gotta start this blog with a fact that grosses some people out. Sorry, it has to be done. Ok, here goes: I only wash my hair twice a week, maybe three times max. I often go 4 days between washings 😬. My hair is naturally very dry, and washing it all the time makes it worse! I learned long ago that going several days between washings is really good for it! It helps to keep it conditioned and strong! That’s where today’s product review comes into play. Dry shampoo. Today I’m reviewing 3 different brands I’ve used and like/dislike for different reasons.

Full Disclosure: Links in this post may be affiliate links. I use these to help keep my blog going. I appreciate when you use my links to purchase products (and I know you appreciate knowing it doesn’t cost you any extra!). Find my deal page to see great deals HERE!

I have a love/hate relationship with dry shampoo. I have known for a long time that it would be helpful to use when I’ve gone several days since the last wash. However, I had a bad experience at first and thought all dry shampoos were the same! You see, the first kind I ever tried had a very strong scent that never went away and I hated it. Strong scents give me headaches. I couldn’t do it! That was waaaaay back in high school (wow, makes me feel old saying that!) and I haven’t tried one since. Until last year.

Osis +Schwarzkopf Dry Shampoo

Last year I got brave and tried Osis +Schwarzkopf Professional Refresh Dust Dry Shampoo and to be honest, I LOVED it! It’s probably my favorite Dry Shampoo, ever! The only difficulty I had using it is that my hair is very dark and it sprays on white so I had to be careful how much I used and really work it in. Even with all that, it works, so it was a great buy for me! However, it was $15 for the can which I felt was higher than what I wanted to spend. The kicker was that it only lasted a few times!! Seriously! 4-5 uses and I can’t get any more out! I think the topper broke because it seems like there is still product in the can. But I couldn’t return it since this happened longer than a month after I bought it, so I felt I had wasted my money. That led me on a search for the best dry shampoo that was pocketbook friendly. (I noticed it has since dropped to below $10, so looks like a better price altogether).

Batiste Dry Shampoo

The Batiste Dry Shampoo for brunettes was the next option I tried. I still have this one and use it some. I think it does a great job making my hair not oily and even helping to blend my roots in with the rest of my hair (I have some grays I like to hide). The negative for me with Batiste is one of the first times I used it I really tried to hide my grays and I guess I used too much, because every time I touched my hair or scratched my head the rest of the day some of the brown color came off on my hand! I’ve found that if you use less it doesn’t do this, but that made me not fall completely in love. Batiste has options for both blondes and lighter brunettes if you need a different color.

Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo

The most recent and my current favorite dry shampoo option is the Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo. I tried it because it was on an insane sale, and since then the price has dropped even further! If you click on the link above and select the 1 count (pack of 2) option then you get 2 for less than $6 right now! That’s about half the price of the same thing at Target! What I like about it: It goes on evenly. Not too much comes out a time so you can apply it easily without getting too much. It does have a scent, but it disappears quickly and doesn’t bother me. If you use a lot it also turns my hair white, so I have to make sure to blend it in well, but that doesn’t bother me as its easy to blend in. I noticed 2 other types of the Not Your Mother’s brand are also on sale right now. The Beach Babe Texturizing Dry Shampoo is on sale 2/$8 and the Plump for Joy Body Building Dry Shampoo is on sale 2/$6 or less with Subscribe & Save! I would say this brand works about as well as the Osis + Schwarzkopf Dry Shampoo I mentioned above, but is much more budget friendly!

My hair can usually make it a few days without looking greasy, so I don’t use dry shampoo all the time, but sometimes I just need it! I would really recommend any of these three brands, depending on what your budget is and what you’re looking for in a dry shampoo. Do you have a favorite that’s not on the list?

⭐️⭐️⭐️ How many times have you asked y ⭐️⭐️⭐️ How many times have you asked yourself the following questions:
- Is that the only plant that Chandler has in her whole house since it ends up in every single picture?
- I know Chandler likes using natural, aluminum free deodorant and has tried probably 10 different kinds. I wonder what her favorite kind is?
Today is YOUR lucky day! I am answering both questions! (I'll answer the plant question below... 😅)
- THIS is my fave natural deodorant. I thought about listing the other 10 kinds I've tried but that didn't seem very nice. They all are fine... I just have to reapply the others several times a day.
- THIS one I don't have to reapply! It really works!
- I like THIS one so much that I actually reached out the company for a prømø cøde! They don't do prømø cødes on amazon, but they DO offer the s&s option for a significant s@vings! And you can cancel anytime!
- Have you figured it out yet?! Do you know which is my absolute favorite natural deodorant?!

I had been curious about Keranique for a while so I had been curious about Keranique for a while so I was thrilled when they sent me some to try! They sent me both the Replenishing and Revitalizing options. Replenishing sounded more like what I need, so I started with it. It was ok. I think it would be better for oily hair. My hair is already dry. It gave me great body but I felt like it made my already dry hair look too dry. I used it for a month and it was definitely good for body, but not for dry hair.
I almost gave up but didn't feel like I should until I gave it a fair shot, so next I tried the Revitalizing Shampoo & Conditioner... and I ❤️ it! It gives great body but also makes my hair feel soft and, oddly, replenished. It's the least expensive option right now, so if you're grabbing one and have dry hair like me, I'd try that one!
