When we bought our house a few years ago it came with stainless steel appliances. Well, it was supposed to… we ended up having to go out and buy a refrigerator… but that’s another story. I love the look of stainless in our kitchen. But did you know that stainless steel attracts fingerprints?  The microwave seems to enjoy showcasing any sort of splatters from the stove. The dishwasher likes to highlight drips from the sink or countertops. And our refrigerator is just what we need – it’s counter depth so it fits in the space we have. But when the boys get water out of the in-door water dispenser they spill water all down the front of it and it tends to look messy more than it looks clean. 😂 We’ve bought disposable cleaners for it before, but then you have to continue to buy them so I just stopped using them. Great plan, I know. 🤪

When I saw these Nano Towels for Stainless Steel on Amazon lightning deal the other day I felt like they would be an extremely viable alternative to buying cleaners over and over for our appliances. Whatdya know, they did NOT disappoint! All it took was a little water and the fridge wiped down so quickly and easily!

Before and After with the Nano Towel😲

The Nano Towel for Stainless Steel will be great to keep nearby and I can wipe down my fridge and other appliances whenever I need to! One of my favorite things about them is you don’t need any chemicals or anything else, just the towel and water!

When I find a product like this, so simple to use and straightforward, I often wonder why I hadn’t looked for it before! Have you used Nano Towels? A quick search shows they have lots of other options as well. I’ll be keeping my eyes out for a good deal so I can try them, too! Product Review Wednesday! – Dry Shampoo

Gotta start this blog with a fact that grosses some people out. Sorry, it has to be done. Ok, here goes: I only wash my hair twice a week, maybe three times max. I often go 4 days between washings 😬. My hair is naturally very dry, and washing it all the time makes it worse! I learned long ago that going several days between washings is really good for it! It helps to keep it conditioned and strong! That’s where today’s product review comes into play. Dry shampoo. Today I’m reviewing 3 different brands I’ve used and like/dislike for different reasons.

Full Disclosure: Links in this post may be affiliate links. I use these to help keep my blog up and going! I appreciate when you use my links to purchase products (and I know you appreciate knowing it doesn’t cost you any extra!), and I also appreciate you hanging out and reading my blog! I have a love/hate relationship with dry shampoo. I have known for a long time that it would be helpful to use when I’ve gone several days since the last wash. However, I had a bad experience at first and thought all dry shampoos were the same! You see, the first kind I ever tried had a very strong scent that never went away and I hated it. Strong scents give me headaches. I couldn’t do it! That was waaaaay back in high school (wow, makes me feel old saying that!) and I haven’t tried one since. Until last year.

Last year I got brave and tried Osis +Schwarzkopf Professional Refresh Dust Dry Shampoo and to be honest, I LOVED it! It’s probably my favorite Dry Shampoo, ever! The only difficulty I had using it is that my hair is very dark and it sprays on white so I had to be careful how much I used and really work it in. Even with all that, it works, so it was a great buy for me! However, it was $15 for the can which I felt was higher than what I wanted to spend. The kicker was that it only lasted a few times!! Seriously! 4-5 uses and I can’t get any more out! I think the topper broke because it seems like there is still product in the can. But I couldn’t return it since this happened longer than a month after I bought it, so I felt I had wasted my money. That led me on a search for the best dry shampoo that was pocketbook friendly. (I noticed it has since dropped to below $10, so looks like a better price altogether).

The Batiste Dry Shampoo for brunettes was the next option I tried. I still have this one and use it some. I think it does a great job making my hair not oily and even helping to blend my roots in with the rest of my hair (I have some grays I like to hide). The negative for me with Batiste is one of the first times I used it I really tried to hide my grays and I guess I used too much, because every time I touched my hair or scratched my head the rest of the day some of the brown color came off on my hand! I’ve found that if you use less it doesn’t do this, but that made me not fall completely in love. Batiste has options for both blondes and lighter brunettes if you need a different color.

The most recent and my current favorite dry shampoo option is the Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo. I tried it because it was on an insane sale, and since then the price has dropped even further! If you click on the link above and select the 1 count (pack of 2) option then you get 2 for less than $6 right now! That’s about half the price of the same thing at Target! What I like about it: It goes on evenly. Not too much comes out a time so you can apply it easily without getting too much. It does have a scent, but it disappears quickly and doesn’t bother me. If you use a lot it also turns my hair white, so I have to make sure to blend it in well, but that doesn’t bother me as its easy to blend in. I noticed 2 other types of the Not Your Mother’s brand are also on sale right now. The Beach Babe Texturizing Dry Shampoo is on sale 2/$8 and the Plump for Joy Body Building Dry Shampoo is on sale 2/$6 or less with Subscribe & Save! I would say this brand works about as well as the Osis + Schwarzkopf Dry Shampoo I mentioned above, but is much more budget friendly!

My hair can usually make it a few days without looking greasy, so I don’t use dry shampoo all the time, but sometimes I just need it! I would really recommend any of these three brands, depending on what your budget is and what you’re looking for in a dry shampoo. Do you have a favorite that’s not on the list?

From My Mommy Heart

I don’t know why God saw fit to give us twins.

I remember the moments of literal insanity from lack of sleep during that first year. More than once I thought my baby was purposely being mean to me by waking back up just when I’d laid down. It was rough (is the understatement of the century). The hardest year of my life.

I remember choosing on their first birthday that year two was going to be better. I was going to get out more. I was going to start living life again instead of just surviving. And it wasn’t easy, but we did. We started going to the zoo with friends. I took them grocery shopping (oh that one time I forgot my wallet…) just to prove I could. Our double stroller barely fits through doorways and is no fun to maneuver by myself, but we got out and we did things. Everyone warned me that when they started crawling and walking that life would get harder, but I loved it. When they were mobile they could follow me around and I didn’t have to carry two babies around the house. Year two was rough, but we did it. And enjoyed it.

Around their second birthday I realized I needed to start doing something out of the house. Their attitudes were normal 2 year old attitudes, but double time. Some days it was more than I could handle. I decided to go back to work PRN. Somehow taking care of someone else’s babies during the day made me super excited to return to mine. The boys grew even closer to their Dad, their Mimi, & Grace, who all take care of them while I work. Life was busier and thus harder, but it was good.

We are now smack dab in the middle of year four. I have two 3 year olds around constantly. Neither of which EVER stop talking or asking for things (how many times a day can 1 child say “Mom, can I have a rolla bar please?”). I’m not the best mom. I don’t handle the constant of two little ones perfectly. But there are these moments that make me stop and catch my breath. I can tell that I’m starting to see why God gave us two babies at one time.

When they sit down together and have a 3 yr old discussion without fighting, it’s the best. When they happily play together, there’s nothing like it. When they have conversations or tell jokes or laugh with each other, it makes my heart pause to try to take it all in. When they haven’t seen each other in 30 seconds and giggle and hug because they’re so excited to be back together, my momma heart just about bursts. This morning they were outside playing in pajamas that don’t match, wearing their shoes on the wrong feet, just the way they like it. The breeze is cool and the temperature is amazing, and they were playing so happily together my heart almost couldn’t take it. It was a gift from God and my boys and it made my heart swell.

I still believe it’s a choice we have to make to thrive when life is hard, instead of just surviving. This is not something I have perfected by any means. And I still look back at that first year and wonder how we ever made it. The only way we did was by relying heavily on my mom & other family, friends, and God’s grace to make it through. Having moved past that it’s amazing to look ahead and see that my boys are growing into smart, kind little men with generous hearts towards others. I love seeing the things that delight them. My heart hurts when they are hurting. And I’m slowly learning that though I may never fully know why, God knew what he was doing when he gave us twins.

As I’ve thought about this post, I want to add a little bit to the end of my blog… to hopefully encourage YOU if you’re going through a hard time! It won’t always be this way. Things change, kids grow, jobs aren’t always the same. I would encourage you to reach out to God, and family or friends that you trust to help you get through it. Tomorrow will be different. Next week isn’t going to be the same as today. And by next year you might not even recognize yourself. If you need someone to specifically pray for you right now, please feel free to comment here or message me via my facebook page. I would be happy to lift your name to God to help you get through whatever you may be going through. Hugs, to you, my reader.

Product Review – Did you know? Goo Gone Works on Laundry!

Goo Gone is GREAT for getting sticky off of everything! Have you used it? We use it all the time to get the sticky sticker residue off the floor or fridge (our boys like to stick stickers everywhere…) or just about everything! It’s great! I recently have found a new use for it (at least for our house).

Twice lately I have gotten some sort of greasy substance on my clothes. Something splashed on my scrubs at work, and the other was bacon grease while cooking. Even after treating once with stain remover and when that didn’t work washing with dish soap, then washing on cold, and laying out to dry, the greasy spots were still there! Ugh! I only own a few pairs of scrubs, so I definitely needed to get the grease out, and the other was a newer shirt I wanted to be able to wear.

Finally, as a last resort, I tried Goo Gone Spray on the spots. And it worked! I sprayed it on, let it sit for a few minutes, washed on cold with a regular load and air-dried the item, and voila! Grease spots gone! Pretty sweet if you ask me. The Original would work as well, we just had the spray on hand.

When I was pulling up links for this post I saw a ton of new products I didn’t know where out there! Seems like Goo Gone has all sorts of products now! In fact, I knew once again that my husband I were meant to be when I saw that he had ordered some Goo Gone Automotive Cleaner just yesterday! Goo Gone is pretty much the best – and it’s confirmed that he agrees with me.

I saw a ton of other options for Goo Gone, too. Have you tried them? What other ways do you use Goo Gone in your home?

Blogging. Trying Deals. Taking Pictures. It’s not as easy as they make it seem!

Blogging. I’ve always loved it! I’ve blogged for years and years… I started back in high school when I tore my ACL and had surgery. I named my knee brace George.

Since then I’ve blogged my college life and playing basketball. I’ve sporadically blogged getting married and now our life with twins.

I’ve enjoyed it all!

But there’s one thing I think is going to take a while to get used to! Lots of bloggers are these cute, tiny gals looking super cute in everything they wear! It’s a little overwhelming because that is DEFINITELY not me. I’m almost 6’ tall and I haven’t seen 120 lbs on a scale since pre-high school. To clarify, I’m usually really confident in who I am and I have no desire to be much smaller than I am (most of us usually want to lose a pound or to if we’re honest with ourselves, right?), but that doesn’t mean I want to take lots of pics of myself and post them for the world to see. Not that I have to. I know I don’t. I’ve just been realizing how helpful it is to readers if they see a real life person in a real life outfit. Much better than a random Amazon link! So, I’m going to be trying it. I don’t even own a full length mirror… this is gonna be fun.

In order to ease myself into the process, I wanted to show you this amazing dress I got this week! I ordered the wine color because it was on sale for $9.99 in my size! I found the dress because Simply Becca modeled it last week. She’s much smaller and cuter than I am, but it looked like maybe a dress I would like. With free prime shipping and free returns I ordered it!

When I tried it on I fell in love! It’s soft, it’s comfy, it hides the extra skin the twins left me with (they give such good gifts). I even had running shorts on underneath and you couldn’t tell! Oh, and it has POCKETS! I think it would look cute with a kimono or jean jacket, too!

Next, it was time to get the picture. The boys were outside playing so I thought maybe they could help me. Since they’re 3… aiming is still a challenge. They each DID manage to get a picture from the waist down (but mostly just my feet and the grass), though my face was nowhere to be seen. I also tried the self timer (see the thumbs up) and posing was a huge challenge! The selfie attempt was hard to fit my whole 6’ frame in.

All of that to say I loved the dress, and I am sorry for the quality of the pictures 😃. If you want to try it for yourself, here’s the link!
