Raise your hand if you’ve ever tried Stitch Fix! I’ve been a faithful subscriber for a year now and have gotten several boxes. I’m not gonna lie, it’s really, really, really fun to have someone else pick out some clothing off your suggestion and then send you a box full to try on in the comfort of your own home!

Recently I asked my husband if he wanted to try a box! He was very enthusiastic with his answer of “sure.” Ha! However, when you start out with a credit it’s just free clothes and who can turn down free clothes? When we got the box he just started pulling things out and trying them on right then and there! So I grabbed my phone and snapped a few pics… I know a lot of women who have tried Stitch Fix but not any men, so I thought it would be helpful to share what he got and what he thought about it!
First, if you’re not familiar with Stitch Fix here are a few pointers:
What is Stitch Fix?
When you sign up for Stitch Fix you fill out some questionaires, tell them a bit about yourself, and then you order a “Fix” which is a box of clothing that a stylist picks out specifically based on your answers.
Is Stitch Fix a Subscription? I don’t want monthly boxes.
Nope! You definitely can sign up for a subscription of every month, every 2 months, every 3… however often you want. However, you can also just order 1 box when you want and not set up auto-shipped boxes. I love this about it! You don’t have to worry about remembering to cancel or getting a box when you don’t need clothes.
Is Stitch Fix Free for a Fix?
Yes & No. They charge a $20 “stylist” fee for sending you a box. However, if you keep any items from the box then the $20 goes toward that item and the stylist fee is waived. I usually plan on keeping one item so that I don’t waste $20.
If you have any further questions feel free to reach out! I’d be happy to try to help!
Now, on to my husband’s box!
Luke’s box came with this nice note from Jennifer, his stylist, and examples of how to pair the items to make outfits.

He received:
– Sherpa Lined Field Jacket

– Bolt Relaxed Straight Jeans (he didn’t try these on for a pic)
– Tallin Snowheather Textured Hoodie

– Boulder Performance Thermal Henley

– Araros Leather Chukka Shoes

He was a little surprised to get a pair of shoes – so I wanted to make a note that you can opt out of shoes or some accessories (for women I can choose not to get jewelry since I don’t wear much).
So… our honest opinion of the box?
I’m not sure the stylist got a good grip on his style. He wasn’t in love with any of it. The jacket was fine but it shed all over him and our house (haha), the hoodie wasn’t his style, and the shoes had too much of a heel. He did like the henley and it looks nice on him so he ended up keeping it and put his $20 stylist fee towards that and sent everything else back.
The cool thing is that since he signed up with credit he was able to keep the henley completely for free and he can order another box and probably keep something else, too! I’m hoping he’ll try it again to use his credit.
I personally haven’t loved everything in all my boxes, either! There have been several boxes where I just wasn’t impressed. I’ve always found at least 1 item to keep, though! If you don’t like your box you can ask for a new stylist the next time. You can also get on your account and take style quizzes so they can better understand your style.
I did keep all of one box they sent! Especially because there’s a perk when you keep the whole box! They give you a discount! Sometimes it’s cheaper to keep the whole box than to send 1 or 2 items back, so if you’re on the fence you can see which option saves you more money!

Do you want to try Stitch Fix with credit? Use Luke’s link to start with $50 credit! (They normally only give $25 so this is a great way to start!).
