Finding the perfect swimsuit. Is that even possible?! I always have to try on a million before I find one I can even tolerate! We also have a new challenge with so many dressing rooms closed right now. I’ll admit it, I never was comfortable in a teeny-tiny-itsy-bitsy-yellow-polka-dot-bikini, or any other color for that matter. But now that I have 3 littles to chase around the pool I feel like I need a new level of coverage. I’m thinking full wet-suit coverage. But where’s the fun (and sun) in that?!

I recently asked about a swim dress in my Facebook Group and got lots of great feedback on why a swim dress is a good idea or not for a busy mom. Some moms prefer it, while some don’t like that it floats in the water. Swim rompers were another recent topic of conversation. Once again, the reviews were quite divided! What do you think about a swim dress or a swim romper? Do you wear one? Would you like to try one?
Another challenge that a lot of moms (including me) have is diastasis recti – when your abdominal muscles separate after birth and cause you to still to have a bit of a “tummy.” Mine doesn’t cause me pain, but it does frustrate me because my semi-flat stomach I had as a teenager/young adult is long gone. Which makes my goal of dressing myself to feel confident harder, especially in swimwear. On that note, I am ALWAYS looking for a deal, but if I can also feel good about myself in what I’m wearing – that’s the ultimate goal, and I’ll spend a few dollars more on choice items like a suit.
I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite mom-friendly swimwear. It ranges in price – so hopefully you’ll find something that fits your body and your budget.
If you have a unique body-fit need I would highly recommend starting at Land’s End. They have so many different categories, I feel like we can all find something here. Plus, I’ve had several mom friends tell me these just are the best! Have you tried one?

The best thing about Land’s End swimwear are alll the options they have! Lots of short and skirt lengths, swim dresses, tankinis, one-pieces… you’ll find it all and in YOUR size!

Tummy tip: If you’re looking to minimize your tummy area, choose a suit with a little ruching in the middle. Or like the top left option, choose one that’s a little looser (just keep in mind it will still get clingy when wet).

I can’t take credit for finding this gorgeous swim dress from J.Crew! My cousin sent it to me and I immediately fell in love with the ruching and the little ruffle at the bottom! This suit would be great for busy moms who also want to make an impression at the pool this summer! This exact option is not on sale at the moment, but there are some other colors and also a halter swim dress that would be super flattering available here.

This is the dress that started the whole conversation over in the Facebook Group! I love the colors! And the fact that it has shorts underneath! The cross fabric in the front would also be flattering to hide a tummy (or even if you don’t have a tummy to hide!). Hopefully it’s still there for you!
This adorable one piece has everything you could need in a suit! It’s flattering, it minimizes the tummy area with the ruching, and the top ruffle detail just make it even cuter! I have a very long torso so I haven’t bought a one-piece in years. I tried this one, and in my normal XL it was plenty long for me! I can’t wait to wear it to the pool!

This swimsuit comes highly recommended to me by friends with Diastasis Recti. They say it’s flattering, comfy, and super cute! The over 17 thousand reviews would say that most people agree! I’m going to order it next! Have you tried it?

Please tell me your thoughts on these (and there’s more at the link!) I think they’re super cute and would be just like wearing normal clothes to the pool, except this will dry quicker! To me this seems like a great option for anyone, especially moms chasing young kiddos around! I’ve heard it works great from a couple friends of mine as well. Have you tried one?! You can comment on my Facebook post here if you want to let me know!
Lots of great options at Kohl’s!
We are back to my absolute favorite place to shop for swimwear on a budget. Kohl’s coupon codes just can’t be beat when you’re looking for a good suit and you don’t want to spend a ton! I have a couple of the Nike tops because it’s just like wearing athletic wear to the pool, and I’m all about that! The only reason I struggle a bit at Kohl’s is they do not carry tall sizes, so I have to look for a suit that is longer in the torso area. They do carry a Women’s Croft & Barrow® Tummy Slimmer Tiered One-Piece Fauxkini (not pictured) that would be great for most mamas, I just couldn’t make it work with my insanely long torso. To remind you, I’m 6′ tall and long everywhere!
I’m sure there’s more!
This list is obviously not all – inclusive of great swimwear options! I know that JCPenney and Zulily often both have a lot of great options, along with many other stores! I intend to shop around later for more great finds! Please let me know in the comments or on my Facebook Post what you think about these suit selections! I am all about feedback and finding new, fun places to shop!
I also share frequent swim deals on my daily deals page or on Facebook. I hope you join our little community so you don’t miss out!
